1. Acceptance of Terms

Stenox is operated by GKI Software Inc., formerly Sophosia Software Inc., Saskatchewan, Canada. These terms govern your use of the Stenox macOS app and website. By downloading or using Stenox, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.

2. Permission to Use Stenox

A new Stenox license grants permanent access to the features included with your purchase for use on up to two Macs you own or control. The paid release requires online activation. Paid licenses refresh every seven days and remain valid offline for up to 30 days from the last successful check; failed requests do not extend that deadline. The purchase is not a subscription; future major upgrades may be sold separately. You can deactivate a device in the customer portal to make room for a replacement Mac.

Seven-day full-app trial

In Stenox, choose Start 7-day trial while online. No account or card is required. Your trial starts when that request succeeds, not when you download the app. Use all of Stenox for seven days, then purchase a license to start new work. There is no ongoing free tier. When the trial ends, you can still view and export your history, and work already in progress can finish. A license is required to start new work. Paid offline access does not extend the trial.

After paid offline validity ends, successful verification is required before new work. History and export remain available and ongoing work can finish. A confirmed revoked or invalid license denies new paid work; a temporary service failure preserves remaining signed validity.

Valid existing licenses retain their original rights and device allowance and are honored in Stenox. Previously distributed free releases remain usable without a new purchase. These terms do not retroactively reduce rights granted by earlier purchases.

You may not:

• Redistribute, sell, or sublicense the software
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices
• Use the software for any unlawful purpose

Third-party components are governed by their respective licenses. See the third-party licenses and credits for original license sources. These terms do not limit rights granted under those licenses.

3. Purchases and Refunds

Prices are shown in Canadian dollars, with applicable taxes added at checkout. Polar processes purchases as merchant of record. This special offer remains available until we update it, with no scheduled end date. Later price changes apply only to new purchases. Refund requests are subject to our seven-day refund policy. Optional provider API charges and subscription usage are separate and governed by your provider agreement.

4. Optional Providers, Meetings, and Calendars

Stenox includes dictation, meeting transcription and insights, and optional Google Calendar connections. Available providers and models depend on your configuration and connected accounts.

Local options include Whisper/WhisperKit, Parakeet, Cohere Transcribe, and local language models. Cloud dictation can use Deepgram, AssemblyAI, OpenAI Transcribe, or Gemini; Gemini can also refine text. Meetings offer local or cloud speech and on-device, OpenAI Codex, Anthropic Claude Code, or Google Antigravity insights. Cloud providers receive the audio, text, prompts, and relevant meeting context needed for the feature you select. Speech and insights are separate choices.

API features use keys you supply. Codex and Claude Code insights use provider-managed subscription sign-in; Antigravity uses its signed-in Google account. Available models and usage allowances depend on the connected provider. Selecting another insights provider does not sign you out of its account or recall content already sent. You are responsible for your provider account, applicable charges, and compliance with its terms, including any age, region, or use restrictions.

Optional Google Calendar connections provide read-only event access; Stenox cannot create, edit, or delete events. Meetings use your selected insights provider, which can receive included Google calendar or derived context. Automatic updates, refined notes, and Ask send different context, as detailed in the privacy policy. Automatic insights can send updates while enabled; Stenox does not ask for consent before each request. New Outlook connections are not offered. Disconnecting or revoking calendar access does not delete saved meeting snapshots or provider-held copies; manage these separately. The calendar disclosures explain scopes, sharing, storage, and retained Outlook records.

Record, transcribe, and process only content you are entitled to use. Obtain any required participant consent and follow applicable recording and privacy requirements. Calendar invitees are not proof of attendance or speaker identity. AI transcripts, speaker labels, insights, and notes can be wrong; review them before relying on or sharing them. They are editable drafts, not guaranteed minutes or professional advice.

Provider terms apply separately: Deepgram, AssemblyAI, OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft. Applicable business or API agreements may differ from consumer terms.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

Stenox is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be error-free or uninterrupted.

However, we are committed to improving Stenox. While we cannot guarantee a bug-free experience, we will make reasonable efforts to address and fix any errors, bugs, or issues reported by users within the scope and limitations of the application.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, neither GKI Software Inc. nor its licensors are liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with the use of the software.

7. Updates and Changes

We may update the software and these terms from time to time and will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes. Where consent is required, a notice alone does not replace it. A purchase provides permanent access to its included features; it does not promise every future major upgrade at no additional cost. Previous purchases retain their original rights.

8. Termination

We may restrict access to Stenox services we operate if you violate these terms. A refunded paid purchase loses the entitlement granted by that purchase. Previously distributed free releases are unaffected. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights under applicable law.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Saskatchewan and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes are subject to the courts of Canada, without limiting any mandatory rights or protections available under applicable law.
