Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using Stenox, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the software.
2. Permission to Use Stenox
Stenox is provided free of charge for personal and professional use. No purchase, subscription, license key, or device activation is required. You may install and use the app on Macs you own or control.
You may not:
- Redistribute, sell, or sublicense the software
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices
- Use the software for any unlawful purpose
3. Free Distribution
Stenox does not charge for the app or its built-in local features. If you connect a third-party provider using your own API key, any charges from that provider are your responsibility and are governed by your agreement with that provider. Refund requests for purchases made before Stenox became free remain subject to the terms in effect at the time of purchase.
4. Third-Party Services
Stenox allows you to connect to third-party transcription and AI services using your own API keys. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service:

- OpenAI Terms of Use
- Anthropic Terms of Service
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of third-party services. Any costs incurred from using third-party APIs are your responsibility.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
Stenox is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be error-free or uninterrupted.
However, we are committed to improving Stenox. While we cannot guarantee a bug-free experience, we will make reasonable efforts to address and fix any errors, bugs, or issues reported by users within the scope and limitations of the application.
6. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Stenox or its developers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with the use of the software.
7. Updates and Changes
We may update the software and these terms from time to time. Continued use of Stenox after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
8. Termination
We may restrict access to Stenox services we operate if you violate these terms. This does not create or reinstate a paid license requirement for the local app.
9. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada and the province in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Canada.
