Frequently asked questions
Why is Stenox downloading models during onboarding?
The default experience uses Parakeet for local transcription and Gemma for local language processing. Stenox downloads and loads the required models before your first recording.
Do I need a license key?
No. Stenox 1.0 is free and no longer uses licenses, paid plans, or recording time limits.
Can I bring my own API keys?
Yes. Add keys in Settings for supported third-party providers. Stenox does not charge for those connections; provider terms and usage charges still apply.
Why is a local model not starting?
Confirm that you are using an Apple Silicon Mac, have enough free storage, and let the model download complete. Restart Stenox after any interrupted first-time model setup.
